Rio de Janeiro, Brazil “The wonderful city,” as it is called, (Cidade maravilhosa) need not be as turbulent. After all, it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. There is no city in South America that holds the imagination of people all over the world like Rio does. Its setting is the most spectacular, its popular culture unique and the joie-de-vivre of the Cariocas one of its main attractions: a visit to Brazil is simply not complete without a visit to Rio. The Corcovado and Sugar Loaf mountains overshadow the city and the beaches include famous Copacabana & Leme and fashionable Ipanema. Tourists flock here in February or March for the annual Carnival (Carnaval), the most spectacular in the world.

The hot Brazilian carnival - Carnaval in Rio the samba parade of Samba School
The carnival or Carnaval, you can find a lot of brilliant brazilian carnival costumes and masks in the Samba Parade of Rio de Janeiro.  The city has its own Sambadrome with boxes and bleachers, and the main parades are on Carnival Sunday and Monday. The carnival women in costumes are famous around the world. Nude an semi naked girls can be found in the Samba schools as samba dancers, samba queens, drums queen. Carnaval celebration
The carnival in Rio de Janeiro has many choices, including the famous Escolas do Samba (Samba schools) parades in the sambódromo stadium and the popular street carnival or blocos de carnaval, which parade in almost every corner of the city. Of course you can find brazilian women in topless with bodypainting, some blocos have nude girls but it is insider information.
The most famous blocos are the following:
Cordao do Bola Preta: Parades in the centre of the city. It is one of the most traditional carnivals. In 2006, it gathered 200,000 people in one day.
Suvaco do Cristo: Band that parades in the Botanic Garden, directly below the Redeemer statue's arm. The name, in English, translates as Christ's armpit, and was chosen for that reason.
Carmelitas: Band that was supposedly created by nuns, but in fact it is just a theme chosen by the band. It parades in the hills of Santa Teresa, which have very nice views.
Simpatia e Quase Amor: One of the most popular parades in Ipanema. Translates as 'Friendliness is almost love'. Banda de Ipanema: The most traditional in Ipanema. It attracts families as well as gays and drag queens.
